Breakfast Television

Hello fellow readers;

today we were fortunate enough to have been featured on Breakfast Television! April, Kevin, Mohit, Dina and truly all the staff (including security) were amazing.

The show was about Recycling Wedding Dresses.

Lindsay and her designer at The Green Gown worked tirelessly on a retro 80's gown & revamped it into a modern day trendy masterpiece! Every thing including the very unique blusher veil was made by using the original dress. They literally did this in less than a week and we couldn't be prouder to have them as one of our vendors.

The second transformed gown came from wonderful Ashley and her designer from She's so beautiful who not only made a party/flower/confirmation dress w/hairband, she also made a ring pillow, handkerchief, blusher veil and a stunning clutch purse out of a 10 year old dress. All in 4 days!

These ladies truly are amazing and you should all keep their names handy for future wedding dress transformations or consignments you may need. Director of New Beginnings, Denise Whitter, was the spokesperson on BT for the Wedding Bliss Fundraiser and discussed that the charity has helped over 150 women in it's 7 years. Special thank you to Orly Kahn, Hayley, Kathleen and Isabelle for Hair and Makeup, Jessica from Ritche, Jennifer Borgh and the amazing models Tara Elizabeth, Karina, Kiera, Alex, as well as Denise and Tegan from Emerald Model Management.

In the Spotlight: WeDDings Jubilee

~written by Cendi Micor

Tickets are selling and we want to make sure that the early birds benefit. So, if you are one of the first 100 brides to attend, you will receive a 1hr consult with Denise Georgiou-Newell of WeDDings Jubilee.

Denise (aka Dee) has had over 10 years of experience in planning weddings, events and special occasions. She is extremely creative, positive and will bend over backwards so that your day is beyond your wildest dreams. Whether you are planning a local or destination wedding, you will receive a day full of love, excitement and lifelong memories. Dee is determined to deliver on her promise that, Your Vision is her inspiration.

When New Beginnings approached her to plan the 4th Annual Wedding Bliss, it was a no brainer for her to say 'yes'. Coming from a single mother home, she knows first hand how difficult it is for a woman to make ends meet on her own while supporting growing children. Having an organization like New Beginnings which helps these women become trained in new skills to become self sufficient and create better lives for their children is incredible and certainly something we need to support. Who better to do that then other women: Alas, a Bridal Show!

I have been lucky enough to have her as a mentor in the industry and hope you take advantage of the endless advice and knowledge she has to offer.

Finding the Perfect Dress for YOU!

~written by Cendi Micor

You are engaged...you have your date picked...your vision is vivid in your mind...all eyes will be on you and your partner...but, let's face it- the dress is a vital part of that first glance at you, the bride.

So, here are some things to keep in mind to make your dress shopping easier.

Your dress should express the theme or style of your entire wedding vision. For example, if you are having a winter wedding, don't look at summer dresses. Even if you don't have a theme, you should still maintain a consistent flow throughout.

Do some research in terms of what shade of white suits your complexion. From stark white, to ivory, to champagne, there are shades that just will not look good for your complexion. Know this so your heart is not set, only to be disappointed when you leave the fitting room. With that being said, are you even going to wear white? It is becoming so trendy now to add colour into bridal gowns.

Length is another huge factor. Do you want a full length with a cathedral train? There is nothing wrong with a shorter dress. Mid-calf? Or even one that is longer in the back than the front. Know what suits your style...your dress, your call!

As much as we all want a dress that is one of a kind, made only for us, budget obviously plays a huge role. Nothing is wrong with off the rack. Nothing is wrong with second-hand. Take advantage of deals and sales. Take advantage of fundraisers.

Trust the bridal gown consultants!!! This one is huge because as much as you may be set in your preferences, be open-minded to what they suggest. Majority of the women I've spoken to go with the opposite, or something very different from what they originally had in mind. Certain styles specific body shapes...there are many variations of bead work, lace, bows, etc. They KNOW what they're doing, it's their JOB for a reason!

Remember that ultimately, the dress is YOUR choice. Be careful how many people you bring with you. Yes, it is fun but keep in mind, more people, more opinions and you can't please everyone. One tip...go shopping alone first. Get a feel of what works, then bring people along. Some people are not superstitious about having their partner see the dress but personally, I believe that the first time your partner sees it is when you walk down the aisle. There is nothing better than that element of surprise.

The more dresses you see, the more they all begin to look the same. TAKE A BREAK!! Like anything, too much of anything is overwhelming, so if necessary, stop shopping for a bit.

This final tip should be a "no-brainer" but I'm going to say it anyhow....give yourself enough time. Something unexpected will occur in your wedding so realize that it could be something to do with your dress. If you plan ahead, it will work out. Especially if you are having the dress custom-made. Go at least 8-12months before your wedding date.

Your dress is meant for you and you will JUST KNOW when you find it. Just remember to have FUN with the process....happy shopping!!
